Faith in Mirror's Edge, because she's not made into a sex-object, more often than not you don't think about the fact that you're playing as a girl.

Also, Heather in silent hill 3, because she's a fairly normal person which very un-normal things happen to. And you can sense how her personality changes as the game goes on, and she see (and do) even more horrible things.

Samus Aran. Not for any pervy reasons, but more because she's just a straight-up badass.

Lara Croft - Tomb Raider - NOT the new one, but the old classic one for being badass and hunting for treasure in some awesome places

Tifa - FFVII - Simply because she was a good healer, had awesome limit breaks and didn't have the indecency to die on you mid game

Faith - Mirror's Edge - I've never actually played the actual game but from the demo and videos I've seen I'm just drawn to her character. Plus she has awesome free running

Also someone PLEASE explain to me why Alyx is such a liked character? I found her to be a cardboard cut out and stereotype female sidekick.

Chun-Li, for she is First Lady of Fighting Games, literally and figuratively.

Also, I will always have a place in my heart for Lara Croft, she kicks ass, takes names and plays by her own rules. Everything that made Indiana Jones cool, and then some.

Tali'Zorah nar Rayya from mass effect. Out of all the female allies in that game she was the only one that I could relate to at all.

plus she's a potentially hot (take the mask off!!) tech nerd. What's better?

Samus Aran. Duh. Everyone like her.
Then there's Jade from Beyond Good and Evil, Farah from Prince of Persia: Sands of Time(And ONLY Sands of Time...) and Kumatora from Mother 3, who seems to be suprisingly popular in the fanbase.

Dang, just when I thought I wouldn't get ninja'd. Seriously, though, as awesome as Tali was in Mass Effect, she is about 3 times better in Mass Effect 2. Oh, also, about the mask...

I'd like to know. They cut the camera away during the sex scene to prevent you from seeing her face. Damn it.

For sheer badassery, the boss from metal gear solid, or samus. Or Faith from mirror's edge. I like it when the sex isn't really obtrusive like that, and they just kick ass.

And yes, predictably, Alyx vance too, though mainly because she was well hot in that case...

Kreia from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2. A miserable old lady who blackmails your party into being your party and has zero sex appeal whatsoever. She's an interesting character.

April Ryan from The Longest Journey is the runner up, mainly because she's a believable sympathetic character. Amusingly sarcastic, whereas in the sequel she just gets older and cynical.

Heavily tempted to say Mona Sax, but the name that popped into my head when I first saw this thread was Regina from Dino Crisis. Man alive, I played the first game ALOT.

Linu La'Neral, the Elven Cleric Henchman from Neverwinter Nights, she's just so funny with her backstory of being an utter cluts and unluckier than had she had a black cat walk infront ofher, while indoors with an umberella up and passing under a ladder while breaking a mirror.
Didn't it piss you off that she used the word "dear" every minute?

On topic, Bayonetta.
Yes, I said it
