Would you cut off a limb to save a stranger?

Well, I suppose if some provision could be made that limb loss wouldn't quickly turn into life loss I probably would. You know, if I was provided with fire to cauterize it or a lot of sterile bandages and a decent doctor, maybe if the cutting instrument was a lightsaber or something similar.
And even if I knew I would probably die I probably still would. Especially if the stranger was either a girl or seemed like the sort of person who would pay it forward to the community.

I'd chop off my left hand, for the record. It'd make a few things pretty hard, like gaming, but it'd be really hard to aim properly for my feet and taking a finger seems like kind of a half-assed way to do it. I mean, if someone tells you to chop off a limb to save someone else's life, I want that person I'm saving to know that I was willing to cripple myself for them, not just to inconvenience myself a little.

It would seriously depend on who is in risk of losing life compared to my limb. Irrational as it may be, I won't sacrifice myself for just anyone.

no...
and not because I'm a douchebag or anything
just...
like I'm one of those guys who when asked about the moral dilemma of whether I'd push one stranger onto the train tracks to save a train full of people I said yes pretty quickly (my then-not-quite-girlfriend-now-ex friend showed her great heart by saying she'd throw herself on the tracks...guess I'm just a terrible person?)

saving someone I love is a whole new story, but strangers...ehh I tend to not care there

I pick option C. Pull out crossbow and kill crazy man.

[sub][sub]Tough moral dilemma but I'd probably be too stunned to act to save his life anyway.[/sub][/sub]

WOULD I? Possibly. COULD I? Probably not. Hacking off your own limb is easier said than done. Also, for a stranger? I don't know if it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

...yeah, if man doesnt help his fellow man in all ways that he can then we wont ever surpass our less desirable traits.

Woah wall of text over here! Might want to consider adding a little more to your posts, posts that short are generally frowned upon.

As for me? Hell no. I can barely operate with all of my limbs, I'm not gonna chop one off to save some dude I've never met.

I love how people avoid the question by turning it into a mini D&D and just kill the bad guy...
I roll for initiative......

I mean, no, I don't believe I would sever a limb to save a stranger. I'd probably just blow past the crazy guy and say something like, "Cool. You do that."

Nope. Sorry buddy, but I don't know you and I'm not going to risk being physically deformed just for you.

Of course I would! Let me just find a tree and start choppi-wait...You mean one of my limbs? Oh hell no! I don't even know the person! For all I know, they could be worse than the madman himself.
