Y'see? I can get money using it WITHOUT breaking the law.
What of the laws of physics?
The first thought I had when I saw this thread: "You can Teleport!" "Kay"
Anyway, just what
kind of teleportation are we talking about here? Quantum Teleportation or just plain ol' boring Spatial Teleportation.
If it's the former, I'd teleport to as many parallel universes as I could come up with, just to see how things would have turned out differently in an alternate timeline. Then I would teleport to myself in 10 years on a random timeline, just to see where I COULD be, but not in my own timeline or that would ruin the fun. However, then I would have to deal with the quantum observation theories and whatnot, so that second part may not be an option for me if I want to keep the surprise.
However, if it is just teleportation in the standard 3 dimensions, I would probably figure out how many times I can teleport in sequence and with what side-effects. After finding that out, I would teleport to a high point, fall to terminal velocity, then teleport sideways somewhere up high in order to rocket out and "fly."
Also, someone brought up the topic of "Teleportation via Touch." I'd like to muse on the physics of that.
First, if teleportation could be chained by just straight touch, then everything from the people around you touching the ground or even connected by contacting air molecules would get teleported as well, meaning every time you warp, the entire planet would jump to a new position and it would be like you never moved at all.
However, if it's not by touch, and only teleports the teleporter, then you have the issue of your clothes not coming with, which is just a tad embarrassing, depending on where you land.
As a final thought, if teleportation works within a certain radius, then you'd have to worry about getting a portion of entities or objects nearby, killing the life and damaging structures.
Another interesting thing any teleporter, casual or enthusiast, must take into account is where you land after teleporting. If you can only warp to locations you've been to or have seen, then you gotta worry about moving objects like cars, people, animals, and other mobile things like that. But if you can jump wherever you like, then you must make sure that you're not teleporting straight into a wall or some such, as I somewhat doubt that matter would get displaced before reentry, although that is an interesting theory.
I'd be interested to hear what others think about these thoughts of mine...
