Well, there's always Milla's Secrets in Psychonauts...

...or the freaking mental institution in Second Sight. The insane man in the window was only supposed to scare Jayne, not me!
Agreed on both of those. Psychonauts was actually scary in some places.

As for Second Sight, I actually never finished that level. Not because it was scary (although it was quite eerie), but because I genuinely had a hard time of it. The fact that my game was glitched so that all voices outside of cutscenes were incredibly fast and high-pitched did not help.

Morrowind, the expansion with the assasins. I bought it all at once and the first time i slept for 8 hours and then woke up to find this guy in black clothes with a silver axe charging me through with his battleaxe. Scared the crap out of me. And I still have nightmares about Rosetta Stone...

Scared? Probably but I can't think of anything.

Nervous on the other hand... when you find and kill the 50th gargoyle in Fable 2 and overcome their funny little apple trick, you find yourself in a room with a shit-ton of gargoyle heads staring down at you in front of that treasure chest. I was nervous then. I thought I had to fight something.

Fallout 3's vault with the drugs in the air scared me shitless, And im still jumpy in that game. Too many times ive turned around and...

And yes, I have yelled "baahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" when that happens.
My mate got scared of those, was talking to him on Xbox like he was like "aaaagh, a deathclaw, ha, ha, ha, only kidding, I'm just leaving the deathclaw sanctuary and there's not a one here".

"I bet you one's going to pop up right now."

"Oh yeah, aagh! A fucking deathclaw, no, no, no! Soon as you fucking say it, one's clawing into my fucking ass!"

I was laughing myself silly.

in Endless Ocean, whenever i would go into that deep trench area i would get scared shitless of the creatures popping into your flashlight. i know that game is upposed to be calming but it was the exact opposite for me.

Fallout 3's teleporting fire ant queen. I reflexively kicked a dent in my hardwood desk. (And almost broke my foot)

Both Fallout 3 and Oblivion scared me several times. In Fallout 3, there was a mission in a complex full of Super Mutants and I didn't have any health packs, so I was running on drugs and just trying to survive. It wasn't easy, and it was very frigging' scary, but a LOT of fun.

In Oblivion, the rats actually scared me the most. You don't see them coming, and when they suddenly jump at you while you quietly sneak through a cave, it scares the hell out of you!

I get really scared when travelling through Oblivion's caves, mines and forts. The first time Lucien Lachance from the Dark Brotherhood scared the crap out of me, too. I was too busy wondering why my character was waking up after only an hour's sleep, when the camera suddenly zoomed in on him, and I actually yelled.
whenever i play the game sneakily, it is quite chilling.
of course then i found the way to make weapons that kill anything and that kinda took away from the scariness...
Yeah, the problem with Oblivion is once you reach level 20, you can't die.

I thought the Hotel scene from Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines was really well done, the way that light fittings would begin to rattle on the walls then fly at you or the tiny shots of the ghosts leading you in the right direction. I still go back and play that game sometimes and I think that level is one of the reasons why.

Thief deadly shadows, the orphanage/asylum and the boat. for that matter, Painkiller's asylum level. Wow, there are a lot of asylum levels in games, and they all scare me

I have to say Thief: Deadly Shadows, I mean aren't I supose to be the invisible predator, stalking thick gurads and all that......Well the zombies on the ship and in Shalebridge Cradlle would disagree.

That Halo 2 level 'Sacred Icon' in which the Arbiter is dumped into an empty Forerunner facility that has the right creepy music and genuine sense of isolation because when you get allies like Grunts and Jackals... they die extremely easily and in the end it is just YOU and no one else.

Chicken Run for the PS1. You were a chicken sneaking around the coops, and there were guard dogs patrolling, and if you got caught they'd chase after you and bark like crazy and you'd get a game over scene of the dog growling when they caught up to you.

I'd sit in the same place for minutes at a time, afraid to move because I was afraid of the dogs. Of course, I was nine or ten years old when I played that, so if I were to play it again now I'd probably just laugh at how crappy it is.
I loved that game! It was like Metal Gear Solid with chickens, I always thought the part where you have to avoid the farmer's torch like a searchlight was awesome.

My first encounter with fast headcrab zombies in Ravenholm.
Oh man, one of my friends actually stopped playing half life 2 because she was too scared of ravenholm, it was weird to me because I played the demo for ages and learnt how to speed-run it pretty good...

Right, on topic.

I do get scared quite a bit in games if I'm all adrenalined up, I'm running around, killing everything then BAM! Attack from behind, makes me jump and my heart stop for a moment. I guess the description 'reverse orgasm' would be fitting.
