Exploration = bucket of fun.
Exploration in the Mako = pail of fail.

I'm glad people liked it though. That means those sections of the game were only wasted on 95% of the populace and not 100%.

Or, it was annoying: you spent your time driving up cliff faces at 2 mph, only to see the ramp you were "supposed" to use 10 feet to your left. At worst, however, it was absolutely infuriating.
Wait, there was a ramp you were supposed to use? I just went straight over every cliff, and if it didn't work, turning a few degrees got me over the top.
Yeah a lot of the times important locations were reachable by road-like ramps. If you wasted 40 minutes getting to a marked map locations, you went the wrong way. The problem was, those ramps were impossible to see on the map, and to find, so a lot of the time they might as well have not been there.

But you raise an interesting point: many a time I would scale sheer cliff faces merely by traveling like 45% from the direction I had the cross hairs pointing. Phailysics.

Can we just step aside out of the thread for a minute?, you have a Mass Effect avatar and your a fanboy, you should be defending it at whatever costs...
ME fanboys defending the Mako is like Star Wars fanboys defending Jar Jar Binks.

I actually didn't mind the mako. It be a little awkward to handle, sure, but I actually enjoyed the missions where you had drive it full-throttle through enemy defenses(Virmire being my favorite).

I loved the Mako. It was one of my favourite things about Mass Effect. Jumping down onto a planet with or without reason for being there, turning on The Nomad [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dSQ5a5K4c4], looking at the sky as I'd climb across the world, streaming through those enjoyably crafted levels in the main storyline like Virmire or the charge in the game's finale, and the fresh variety and change it offered to the game were wonderful positives to me.

I'm hearing everyone's complaints, and while I can see where most are coming from, I can't say I agree with them. Fighting felt as balanced as could be - rockets could be dodged as long as you see it coming in time, the enemies could accurately shoot (machine gun fire still wears away at the shields, y'know), and changing direction is easy to do via changing the camera angle. The terrain of most of the optional planets needed massive improvement, I agree, but it wasn't something that couldn't be improved on (and it might just be me being a sucker for adventure and scenery, but I still found the planets very enjoyable thanks to the Mako). If it didn't strike all of you as perfectly convenient, then perhaps it would have been wiser to request that they polish up a perfectly valid and varied part of the game rather than removing it entirely and stripping from the experience.

Now if you kindly will, I need to go prove just how unreasonable customers are by whining to Bioware about getting the Mako back for ME3.

I liked the mako. Never had a problem with it, and the boost was cool. I liked trying to kill it by jumping off high cliffs.

I liked the Mako as well, it was quite fast and sort of fun for a while, and you could pretty much dominate with it so long as you have the right distance.
It's better to wear down enemies to low health in the mako, then get out and finish them on foot. You get way more XP.

Oh, I thought Mako was the energy the Shinra used to power everything. Nevermind. This is just another stupid ME thread to add to the ever growing mountain...

Ugh, can we retire the word "fanboy" for a while? Read the comments on the IGN review. It's basically "lol @ xbox fanboys who think you have uncharted 2 beat", "SCREW YOU PS3 FANBOYS!!" "FANBOYS FANBOYS faann boi".

Lets be civil.

The open world areas were always the same rocky plains, just painted a different color.
The mako controls like the Warthog's older, stupider cousin.
And the steep slopes were a serious pain in the ass.

But judging from my avatar, I of course have a huge boner for Mass Effect, and my hatred of the Mako doesn't derail that.

I love the Mako! Except the world where you have to go rescue the blue alien chick, and I drove the Mako into the orange Hi-C water, and I died. :(

It Stopped being funny on the first ****ing page. You are not being original, and the thread IN THE VERY BEGINING (as in no edits) said The Car from Mass Effect 1. Now it's just pointless.

Actually no Piddy, I don't like shooters so ME is really not my type of game. Plus I'm very tired of people holding up ME2 as if it's the second coming of Christ. (You know the feeling, I've seen it with GOW3). And if I did care there's always the PC.
God It's amazing how many times I've been called a fanboy on this site... all of the time being incorrect (Well, excluding Valve I admit I'm a little biased in favour of them.)

Now I'm being called (and others.) a Mass Effect Fanboy, when I've only played Mass Effect through 3 times.

Please do the mature thing and ignore Tpiddy, he's probably trolling a little. Hell, I even told him he best stop on page 2 because I foresaw (real easily) that it wouldn't end well.

And besides in the end, we all know the game will be superior on PC *Maniacle Laughter.*

$10 says someone thinks "He's just a PC Fanboy". God this site is amusing. =]

This used to bug me as well. Then I realised the turret has a zoom which would bypass the lower limit of the aiming... range?

I liked the open world.

Even if it was barren, it was better then nothing. Pretty much all of it is optional, so you really can't complain (Well sort of.)
