Yes there is a such thing as bad music like you can't just stick a song together I know that music is an art form but is technical aspects to it that have to followed or the piece of music just won't sound right so yes there can be bad music.
I sort of agree with this. In my own definition "bad" music is the music that is created for corrupt porpuses. For example, pop-rap seems to be, in my opinion, the main kind of bad music to date. Most of that music isn't written because someone is trying to show their artistic side or let out some emotion or something meaning full, no it's mainly written because society today seems to like the idea of "smakin dem hoes" and so it sells. Even worse, the people who adore that "music" always say the same thing, "oh I like it because it has a good beat/rhythm." There are girls that like that music who became pregnant and feel miserable because the guy left them and yet they love that new "lil wayne" song that talks something of the sort. And honestly in a society that seems to love songs about "stanky legs" music as an art form is dying or not meant for popular culture.whiskey rock n said:I'd say yes, (and this goes for movies & games too) but any art form that is created purely for the purpose of generating money with no meaning or thought is wrong and in a way bad. If anyone likes it fair enough but it's still wrong.
It's not meant as a quip towards Americans. The intent of the words is the key here, rather than the literal meaning. You could replace 'American radio listeners' with pretty much any nationality, cultural group, ... and it would still mean the same.Symp4thy said:Hey something new on these boards: Someone badmouthing Americans! I respectfully disagree with Mr. Zappa. I think you could, hypothetically, have only ever heard one song and you would know whether you like it or not.
Edit: Although I do think some people could broaden their horizons a little.
And i realised that yes there is such a thing as bad musicCpt_Oblivious said:Yes there is. I have two examples:

How about instead of Drum And Bass, just Drum and Drum?Novskij said:This one is cool too.Ilovechocolatemilk said:Jesus Christ, that drummer...Samuel Cook said:I hate ALL music that is made by only a computer,(so no instruments.) So nearly all dance, techno, etc. It pisses me off so much when you hear a drum machine going at super-speeds, playing really complicated stuff. It makes a lot of people think that it's simple to play and if you can't you're obviously terrible.
This is the only Drum and bass I'd ever listen to..

Holy crap! This song was playing at this huge dance I was at last night! I could hardly hear the song itself but they were playing the video-clip on a big projector. Wow...it is awful.Assassinator said:Well, music has the 'job' of entertaining people. As long as it does that it's a matter of taste I guess. But I don't want to ruin the spirit of the topic, there are a few things I would really want to label as bad. The best example would be this song:
Completely unimaginative and pretty much rudimentary lyrics and a melody that just keeps on repeating itself ad nauseum. This song shows barely any musical skill and solely sells on sex. I cannot possibly call that good.
Pussy wasn't that bad.Cpt_Oblivious said:Yes there is. I have two examples:

You reminded me so much of this:Assassinator said:-snip-
That. I'm not too fond of Hollywood Undead either.Cpt_Oblivious said:Anything by BrokeNCYDE.
I probably would never consider it half decent, no matter what condition I was in.PAGEToap44 said:...............Hitman 43 said:One song which proves bad songs (in this case terrible songs) exist:Gilbert Munch said:That's nice, but reasons and links?Hitman 43 said:Bad music does exist.
Worst. Song. Ever....Of all time.

Agreed. I could only ever consider this song to be even half-decent is if I was very, very high.
