Ive seen this a few times, but I dont know what it means
what does P2P mean?
Im not overly savvy when it comes to that kind of stuff.

That actually hops into my list of favorite interviews ever. He carefully dodged any questions that may make fans unhappy, including my favorite (and one of the most unnecessary sentences ever spoken) "Our goal is to ban hackers from the game" (talk about not answering the question; this guy should really consider politics). He then topped it all off with one of the awesome-est quote I've seen this year; "I've been playing mainly with around 100ms ping and it was great". This thing made me laugh harder than an episode of the Daily Show and Colbert Report combined.vivaldiscool said:*snip*
Very long post, and I shall input my opinions in point form.Kalezian said:*snip*
Thats fine if the developer supports you like Valve (mostly) but if the game company decides they dont want their game altered and is fine the way it is, well tough luck. Also dont know if you've read the fine print but all those video games you bought? You didnt buy the game per say as you've bought the right to play the game. The company still owns the game you just own a licensed piece of software that allows you to play said game.holy shit. you must have never played a good TC of a game, I'm talking stuff like desert combat, project reality, some of the better CoD mods, etc. A well made mod is like playing a new game... FOR FREE! its not so much filling a gap, as it is: this game is great, BUT i think it would be much better if, say feature A did effect B, and rather than whine for a patch, you modify the game.
No, Im not 5 years old or am presumptuous enough to conclude that a game I already like to play is not good enough so I think I can do better. Im not a video game designer so other then not play it I might as well play OTHER games that interest me.Haven't you ever player a board game with some custom rules? what if Parker bros. said you're not allow to mess with the game? you'd call BS on that, right?
Before? I already said it =p But nitpicking aside, Sure those mods filled in the gaps the makers left behind, but in this case IW is saying. Nope our game is good enough, play it or dont, cause we're not going to support mods. GET OVER IT.And before you say get a job making games, consider that people whom make really good mods CAN BE PICKED UP BY THE COMPANY FOR SEQUELS, the DICE and Desert Combat team being a good example, during BF2's development.
You own a piece of software you dont own the copyright to the game, therefore if the owner of said copyright doesnt want anyone making their own version of it they have the right to say so. And yes Mods are born out of necessity, why would somebody mod a game that does what your going to mod it for.MODS ARE NOT BORN OUT OF NECESSITY, but out of a desire to play a game differently. I OWN THE BASIC GAME< WHY THE HELL CAN'T I CHANGE THE RULES FOR PLAYING WITH MY FRIENDS, especially if i feel its more fun this way.
O rly? Most games that play with the P2P system now have it set up to where host advantage is practically non existent. Its still possible to manipulate things to your advantage but trust me when I say cheating is ALOT easier on PC then it is on a console. So big deal thereAlso, its simple physics and logic that dictate that P2P<Dedicated Servers.
And i notice the difference between P2P systems on the 360 and dedicated servers, mainly that it is unfair (for the enemy) when, say, i pull host in a game because the system thinks i'm the best host.
For one Id consider ANYONE who makes the above statement to be a asshole as you know nothing of whats going on inside the company to make such a statement which makes it a blind assumption and we know what assumptions make you look like. And really, IW is an asshole developer now abandoning their original fanbase for more money. All respect for them has been lost with the last month.
PS: spelling was fixed in your post.
I heard rumours that they might be including keyboard support and the ability to play sound through speakers as well!T-Bone24 said:Since when was "mouse control" a special feature for PCs? That's like saying the console support for gamepads is a special feature.
Graphics settings? On the PC? My oh my, these mighty spacemen of the future better know what they're doing.
/sarcasm
Really, in all honesty I was never going to buy this, but to exclude so many of the things that make PC gaming, well, PC gaming is just a slap in the face.
Why would console gamers be complaining? They're getting pretty much what was expected. PC gamers on the other hand are paying an extra $10 compared to other new games and losing features that were staples to many popular FPS games for no real reason other than maybe to please spiteful console gamers.Kalezian said:And yes, if you look at all six hundred of the "bawww, MW2 sucks now!" threads, you will notice the ones mainly complaining are PC gamers.
I for one love the idea of thinking of a game on all platforms as just one single game. It makes coding tons easier and in the end actually saves money if you think about it.
I numbered your "points" to make this easier.Kalezian said:ahhh, I love all the bawww CoD6 is making people give, the tears, I love them.
1) if you dont like it, dont buy it and get on with your life, its only a game.
2) if you dont like it, keep playing CoD4, you know, the game that you want CoD6 to be?
3)if you dont like it, make a better game yourself, since obviously I-Dub doesn't know how to and you do.
take your pick of which comment you want, Im just making it standardized from now on since all of them are interchangeable with the current level of bawwww that fanboys are causing.
Apackof12Ninjas said:Yes I am, pre-order is paid off, gonna get it in 5 days. Im a bit excited ^_^canadamus_prime said:So is anyone still going to buy this game? I'd be surprised if there is.
I will be honest with anyone and eveyrone getting this game, I will hurt you if you spoil the story for me.
1) Please tone down on the "Go make a game yourself if you think you can do better" argument. It's a flawed argument that barely even applies in this case. That's like saying "if you don't like you house, then go build your own". You've effectively told the vast majority of the consumer base to STFU and deal with a sub-par product. I know I can't do better, and I know that the majority of people complaining can't do better, but that's not the point. The point is that we know IW CAN DO BETTER! How do we know? Because they did do better with MW's multiplayer system! They've proven to all of us that they are clearly making something that has inferior multiplayer component compared to what they've made before. Why are we at fault for expecting IW to give us products that are at least on par with their previous titles in terms of quality and features? And why are we at fault for letting IW know that they've failed to meet our expectations?Apackof12Ninjas said:[But really your attitude is spoiled, presumptuous and arrogant if you think you deserve anything from these guys. Its IW game and its a fine looking one at that, like I said if you think you can do better, go prove us all wrong.
People are going to make mods for this game anyways, but they will have to play them on their own servers.
Ahhh piracy.
