Oh ho ho Headphones. Had some Aerial beauties,* but they broke recently. Got some discounted Sony earphones off Amazon, despite bursting my eardrum due to some Skullcandy earphones in the past, and they're not bad.

I got both headphones
and earbuds

Sadly, my headphones are broken atm...they always do, one speaker always stop working. So I have to use my silly earbuds, which just fall out of my ear =(

Sony MDR7506's

Also known as the industry standard for audiophiles or recording artists. I've listened to some of my favorite albums with these babies and I've heard things that I've never heard before. I've had other headphones equal to or greater than the cost to these and they don't even come close.

Plug them in while listening to Dark Side of the Moon on Vinyl and take a trip.

I'm going to use this thread as help for my own personal gain. I'm looking for some good headphones, maybe Skull Candy which some people tell me are really good, but anyone with knowledge of these things could they recommend another good brand, just looking for people's personal experiences with different headphones.
These will cost you $85, but you will never want another pair again. For the price, they can't be beat. DO NOT GET SKULL CANDY. Sure they look cool, but their sound is absolute crap.

I use earbuds when I'm just listening. I have a full headset for vent and skype, though.

My Seinnheiser pair begs to differ.
MY Sennheiser cans beg to differ with your differing!

No ears getting hot, no listening fatigue(if you ears get tired you are listening to your music WAY too loud), some of the best sound money can buy, and almost perfect reproduction of sound with minimal bias, and one of the best sound stages on the face of the planet! And, they get you a TON of attention when you walk out the door wearing them. XD
We use HD 650's in Music Technology and I agree they are unbelievably amazing. But because they're open a lot of people hear your music, which can annoy some people.

Earbuds on my MP3, headphones for my computer.

Headphones are just way too uncomfy for when I go to the gym, which is where I use my MP3 the most. Plus they cancel out a lot more noise and when you're on your bike riding alongside a busy road, that's pretty dangerous.

However, I love that same quality when I'm playing games or watching a movie, so I'll use them then.

Headphones, earbuds are pathetic and poorly designed.

I'm good for both. Honestly, it depends on what's actually going on at the time.

Am I listening to some light tunes to block-out the construction noises at my university while I'm studying? Pop in my nice portable earbuds that I have stashed in my laptop case.

Am I on my desktop Stammputer playing awesome games and need to hear the game without obnoxious other noises going on? Throw on a pair of head phones.

Outside: Earbuds. Not too hung up on which type as long as it isn't complete shit.

Inside: Headphones. Audio-Technica ATH-AD700. Not shitty Skullcandy or overpriced Bose for me.

I prefer big loud speakers, but if I have to choose between these two then definitely headphones. By a loooong mile. Back in my school days I had some big ass headphones, which broke, so I got headband style sony headphones, and then I got some bigger Sonys later on.

However, by far the best headphones I've ever heard I use for gaming, that I bought due to moving into an appartment with my gf... I'd like to introduce you to Sennheiser PC 350

Era buds easily have better sound, headphones only a few have better sound, so I go with ear buds.

I prefer headphones but I use earbuds when on the go.
Unfortunately my headphones broke so I'm stuck using my earbuds for now.

I was hardcore headphones, then I tried the MDR-EX57's from Sony. Comfy, sounds great and go right into my pocket.

I use a pair of Bose MIE2i earbuds. Sound quality isn't quite perfect, but it's still very good, and they're honestly the most comfortable earbuds I've ever used, by an enormous margin.

If been using AKG K141's for about 3 years. They sound lovely but I decided to customise the earpads for pigskin instead of the plastic ones that you get.

Headphones, less chance of hearing damage and ear infections. I avoid earbuds as much as possible.

Earbuds for my ipod or when i'm on the go, headphones for when i'm just at home.

Though i must say, earbuds are starting to piss me off, they keep falling out.

Skullcandy makes very good headphones and earbuds, I slightly prefer the headphones though. Excellent for snowboarding.
