The movies weren't... awful. The problem is they also weren't Transformers per se. They were new stories about teenage drama with special guests: giant robots named after the Transformers. It would have been perfect as a Sci-Fi channel knock-off of a Transformers movie. Both were perfectly watchable C-class movies. The problems, and my main animosity toward Michael Bay, is that in the first movie he didn't bother with any Transformers lore (which wasn't the worst idea he had) and in the second he desperately tried to please the fanboys (good luck with that) and over-saturated it in lore. Its like the first movie he tried to make a cake using one particular ingredient that isn't normally in cake, and the second movie he tried to make everything those same ingredients are used for into a single dish (seriously, giant truck nuts? even my 5 year old cousins thought that was unnecessary). Hopefully they've all learned their lessons and can strike a balance somewhere in the middle, thereby making a good movie.

All of those problems lie with the writers, so I guess I can't really fault Bay for that...

What I want to know is: Where the hell is Marvel Comics during all of this? Marvel should still own the Transformers comic series, and therefore have the best idea of the characters and stories. They also have the most experience on telling a comic-book style story (some good, and some bad, but they've learned a lot more lessons that Bay needs). Come on, Mr. Lee! Get in the game!

Also... (puts on flame suit) Megan Fox and Shia LeBouf SUCK! I haven't seen a movie with one of them in it that hasn't sucked royally, let alone broken into a B- or A-class movie. Seriously... I don't care how pretty you think they are, Bay. And I really don't care how many stupid preteens the thought of boobs or LeBouf will bring in. They have been ruining your movies worse than most of the writing.

From Michael "crap director" Bays own website...

https://www.michaelbay.com/newsblog/files/73978045c5496d5271c90be6884209a8-598.html

Some crap person who can said:
I also want to thank everyone on this site that donated to the Make -A-Wish charity. We raised $20,000 which I will personally be matching. This is a great charity where they make wishes come true for kids who are very ill. We have had many Kids from Make-A-Wish visit us on our Transformers sets and this time we will be posting video of their visits on Transformers 3.

Michael Bay
This is going beyond a joke. The man keeps making bad movies and people keep on giving him money to make these bad movies. But Transformers isn't a film franchise that would be easy to fuck up, and yet Bay did it twice. The second movie in particular was shocking idictment on his lack of skills.

I think he should be stopped.
First, I want to apologize sincerely for not reading the rest of this thread, just the first post.

Second, the guy just donated 20 grand to charity, after raising 20 to begin with. Can we cut the guy some slack please?

Instead of hundreds of millions of dollars wasted, the execs should simply give Michael Bay a couple hundred dollars and have him sit at a desk and play with Transformer toys and making *pew pew plooey* sounds for a couple of hours. I think that's a considerably better idea for Transformers 3 than what may come out next year.

You know what movies had good action AND good story?

Matrix.
V for Vendetta.
All Lord of the Rings movies (especially the 2nd one).
Spider-Man (first one).
The Dark Knight.
Any Bruce Lee/Jackie Chan non-Americanized movie made. Drunken Master, Enter the Dragon, The Legend of the Drunken Master.
Sylvester Stalone movies... okay, plot might be crap in 1/2 of them, and mediocre in the rest, but it's still better than M. Bay's movies.

Point is - you seem to think that "Good action = WOARRRHHGGG EXPLUSHINZZ!! KABLAAAAAM!!! BOOM BOOM KAWHOOPOAAAASH!!". Sorry if it sounds condescending, but grow up. And no, I have nothing against mindlessness - I like games and movies with lots of action, destruction and so on... but I don't think they are good, most of the time I play them JUST for the explosions. Red Faction Guerilla, Prototype just to name two.
I think you missed a few of the all-time classics:
Terminator 2
Jaws
Indiana Jones movies (the only 3 that matter)
the original Star Wars Trilogy (yes they were)
Anything with John Wayne or Clint Eastwood, pre-1998
The list goes on, I'm sure. lol

Also, consider this: we grew up with movies like this and expect at least that level of quality. But the next generation hasn't. They are seeing this for the first time, with CG replacing good storytelling, and they think that's normal. They won't watch the old school stuff because they don't understand complex stories and the old movies aren't as flashy as the new stuff (although T2 still holds the records and sets the standard).

Anybody else wondering WHY John Malkovitch is in that movie?
I mean, I was kinda surprised when I saw Adrien Brody as the protagonist for the new 'Predator' movie, but (Transformers) just doesn't fit with the type of movies Malkovitch is in :S

Not really, Malkovich has been in a bunch of action movies as well as his dramatic roles. Check out his resume: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000518/

Transformers 2 made me stop caring about how hot Megan Fox is. It's that bad. Having said that, I will not be seeing it and thus don't care.

Also, if you want a nice action flick that doesn't make you think, grab a copy of Crank.

The first movie was okay, I guess. I mean, I could watch it if I had to. But the second one was complete trash. I'm afraid of the third one. And I'm a Transformers fan. I'm supposed to go see it, or I won't be able to say anything about it. Still, I'm hoping for the best and I'll try to keep an open mind. I heard it's gonna be a bit more serious. Hopefully they will do it right... who am I kidding? Bay was talking about a super funny actor! I feel like crying.

Okay... I just need to get this out of my mind: Sideswipe. He isn't gray. He's red. And I'm okay with the design I guess, but he's supposed to be red and white. I didn't even notice that he was there! I found that out after the movie! And where was Sunstreaker? The Lambo Twins weren't together! How does that happen?

I could care less.
I mean, I have no emotional connection to the Transformers franchise and, on its own merits, the first movie was decent. Didn't see the second one, though.
Also, Michael Bay is really not good at making movies off established franchises but the man has actually done some pretty good movies.
