If it involves lots of little boys then... Oh in a fps? Well its the only way they will ever get a kill, so I pity them. They're pretty easy to counter.

if you are smart enough to find an efficient position, then you deserve to have it
but no getting people as they spawn

If you can't understand why camping is a legitimate strategy you're a scrub.

If you have low health or a disadvantageous weapon or no back up, camping is a strategy that will embarass the enemy and keep you alive at the same time. That's why people get so mad over it. If you keep getting killed by the same camper in the same spot over and over, guess which one of you is terrible and should break your game disc? Certainly not the camper.

Yeah campings ok, as long as you have a decent tent and marshmallows :p

Seriously, although it's annoying when it's done to you it is a legitimate tactic. So there isn't really anything wrong with it.

Depends on how well the game is designed. If there is a viable way of taking out said camper, it's find. However, if it's a poorly designed game there may be nothing you can do about it.

Spawn camping? Pfft. You haven't camped before you have camped a black hole.

Grid Wars 2 FTW!

if you have a sniper rifle, yes it is. No one should expect you to run out into the thick of battle with a sniper rifle, but it's unfortunate that people do. Now if we're talking BF2, you're probably camping with a Machine Gun that acts like a rapid fire 100 mag sniper rifle, yes, this is wrong.

I am a merciless spawn camper and it is not cheating. Blame the developers for making spawn camping possible, not the players who take advantage of it.

For those who hate spawn camping, here's the question I always pose: how long after you spawn do you expect me to wait to kill you? Should I wait until you get a power weapon or until you pick up some sort of power up? Should I wait until you have me at a disadvantage before firing?

No game allows you to spawn camp the second the match starts. Spawn camping requires one team to lose ground and the camping team to move into their territory. If you let me move into position to spawn camp, then there's some sequence of events that preceded that which gave me the opening to spawn camp. And let me tell you, if I have the ability to neutralize your threat immediately and kill you the second you spawn, I'm going to do it.

Games reward you for winning. No game gives you awards for playing nicely or politely. I want to win, and I will do whatever it takes to win, with the exception of manipulating the game by outside means (standby, modding, glitching, etc.). And if I screw up and put you in a position where you can spawn camp me, it's my own damn fault.

And to take this a step further, there is no such thing as "cheap." "Cheap" is a word scrubs use to define an arbitrary set of rules they have created that no one else adheres to. This applies to throwing and repeated tripping in fighting games, camping in shooters, etc.. People cry, "cheap," when they mean, "I have no idea how to defend against what you're doing so I'm going to try and insult you."

It's bad and game breaking, especially with only a few players. If everyone camps, the game is a stalemate. The first one to move dies. In a real war there is someone forcing the soldiers to move forward.

heres my opinion, those of you that think you are for or against camping/sniping listen up. If you can incorporate sniping into game play, then ok. if that is your only mode or game play, then no. example, if I'm running around fragging people and i run up a tower and let loose a few rounds to take out a fair number of opponents, then that's acceptable as long as I don't stay there long. However, if i run directly to a tower and stay there while only blasting away with sniper weapons, then no.

So, it depends on the situation. however, at no time is spawn camping in any form OK.

Oh CAMPING, I thought he was talking about goin out to the woods with tent, heh oops.
How many more people are going to crack this same "joke"? Seriously. There's a point where the "joke" is dead and buried... So far it's been killed, buried, exhumed and repeatedly raped. Stop.

A legitimate strategy that people seem to complain too much about. Personally, Ican't stand doing it, as it takes all the fun out of an action-shooter.
That is why I don't do it but it is a perfectly good way to play. I only do it if I really, and I mean REALLY need to snipe.

It's only a real problem when whole teams do it guarding every possible angle to attack from. I see it has okay, even smart to do it in professional gaming, but in public gaming it can just be really annoying when stuck with players that don't know how to work together to counter it. Oh and camping spawns is lame haha.

On a well designed map it is a legitimate strategy. Because it is a strategy, and takes skill. On crappy maps - no, it sucks.

One of the redvsblue episodes comes to mind "ITS A LEGITIMATE STRATEGY, ITS A LEGITIMATE STRATEGY"

I find as time goes on, better games and maps are indeed improved - and really the people who camp seem to suck or are godly at sniper - so, I do indeed find it a 'Legitimate Strategy'.

I find it pretty lame, but I am willing to call it legit so long as its not excessive.
