I carried a replica 1911 when I was in the army, loved that thing to death.
Pistols are more accurate and have some recoil suppression so as the size of the round goes up they get better and better (I think Colt was going to make a .50cal revolver, dumbest thing I ever heard of.) But a revolver can be abused and still be reliable.

Either one works though outside of actual combat.

You don't need a 10 round magazine for home defense.

I would go revolver. I've never actually shot anything other than a modern pistol but the revolver looks way cooler, and from what I hear hit much harder.

I'm more of a shotgun type guy, but I guess I'd go modern for a decent backup piece. I can't see myself with one of those .500 beasts. Thats like the most unwieldy looking thing to lug around, but I guess when you run out of ammo you can still hammer them in the head with it. :)

I'm all for the Desert Eagle's power, easy reloading time and damn good looks. I like vintage looks/style but i prefer modern firepower and reload time

I would go with something in between a metal storm pistol its like a revolver and a handgun packed in one it has 4 barels that have the bullets inside the barel the bullets are ignited by electricity reliability penetration a 30 bullet cartrige and a fire all barels at exactly the same time mode and that penetrates any modern body armor :p
haha i win

the welrod is a single shot manual load firearm. It falls into neither catorgory but still looks like the fusion of a night stick and a 22.

I'd get a .454 casuul. It's like the practicality of a handgun, but with the unnecessary amount of killing power of a revolver.

honestly i jut have a love for handguns, but between the two id go revolver, just more aesthetic. but my favorite is a contender, a single shot handgun, just love the sound

Revolvers because of this baby:

It's fake. And nothing compared to Alucard's costom Jackal which is the size of an assualt rifle and fire artillery shells instead of bullets.

Being a Brit I'm allowed neither (well, one day I hope to join the police and go into homicide or armed response, so I'd get some firarms training and occasion to use them there. Don't think you get to choose what you carry though).

Personally, if I could, I'd do a "Murtaugh" and get one of each. A Baretta 9mm semi-automatic because handguns are much easier and faster to reload, lighter to carry and arguably easier to conceal. Obviously the 9mm round is a little limited, but it seems good enough for funsies (the reason I picked it is it's a firearm the SAS tend to carry so it's got to be pretty good, right?).

Then I'd carry some sort of modern revolver too. This is incase the Baretta jams or runs out of ammo or a situation arises where more punch than a 9mm is called for. And because they look awesome.

It really depends on the situation, but I like the sensibility of a revolver. Plus, you take your cartridge casings with you, which is one less piece of evidence.

I'd have a .44 Magnum.
I hate to be a killjoy, but the gun pictured is for .500 :p

It says so on the side.
Damn you Google Image Search!

But who cares? Here's a better pic anyway.

Well I care, I wouldn't have mentioned it otherwise :p

And that second pic is far superior :D

M1911 all the way. i love modern pistols because they're pretty much all based on that...
Hell yes, that's my pick right there!

Colt M1911
hell yes, find me a classier gun and i'll beat you round the head with it until you relise you're wrong :p
But Gary, what about the USP? I know you love it :p
I was torn between it and the M1911 for mine, but I went with the USP in the end. I even used that sexeh pic we found on the interenets :D

I would never trust my life with a clip, revolvers do not jam, while clip-based weapons tend to do so.

My dream gun is the Taurus 357. 8 shot magnum revolver, with a few attachments of course.

Unfortunately the optics and light are indeed NOT included.
