You know, R/S/E actually had some of the best pokemon designs out of any generation. Salamence felt like a real dragon, Milotic was awesome (although annoying to get i will admit) Mudkip became an internet phenomenon, and the legendary Pokemon (excluding the Regi's) were great. The game itself wasn't that good, but the Pokemon designs were great. Pokemon wasn't just a part of my childhood, it WAS my childhood, i got red when i was 3 my first level 100 about a year later. i love that game. Then Gold and Silver come out and actually connect to the first game, while improving on so many things, the day night cycle was especially great in my opinion. Gold and Silver definitely have my vote, for the storyline was the best out of any game. D/P were okay games, a bit better game than Ruby/Sapphire with worse designs. Personally i am extremely excited for HG/SS Taking the best story out of any game and adding some of the things that D/P did well on too.
The regis will always be my favorite legendary trio.
Lol, they were fun to catch but shit pokemon

Once the Pokemon started looking like robots I checked out.
So...porygon? That thing was fucking useless.
It really was. Never really reminded me of a robot though... more like a origami or something like that.
It was a computer program made real. It was made of polygons.
Well I guess Missingno. had a similar thing going on (lol) and the first gen pokemon did have other even weirder shit going on... what was the deal with Mr. Mime and the ugly psychic/ice titty chick (her name escapes me right now)
Mr. Mime was a mime. Nintendo doesn't respect mimes and says they're monsters.
Jynx was a racist caricature and clearly Nintendo doesn't respect black people and thinks they're monsters. thing with lips...
Just like Mr. Popo! :D
And Wham Bam Rock from Kirby superstar :D (who they thankfully redesigned in the remake)
Oh Japan, your casual racism in the media never ceases to confuse me.
OH MY GOD! I never really thought of that boss as a racist caricature and I have played through the original SNES game like 30 times since 1990-whatever. Stop ruining my childhood! D:
Me neither until I got the remake D: I always thought it was supposed to be a carrot or something. But then I saw the new look and I was like "Huh...why would they..." and then it dawned on me, and I looked it up to confirm and a little piece of me died. Also, woot Kirby buddy! That game is what got me into gaming in the first place, I've played it so much I pretty much have all the treasures memorized through no effort of will.
Lol I don't think I ever found them all to be honest. IMO Kirby Superstar is the first true Co-op game.... yeah you had multiplayer beat em' ups like Streets of Rage and TMNT, but Kirby Super Star had some awesome team work aspects.
It helped that that the snes helper AI was retarded so you couldn't do the puzzles that required you and your helper to work together on your own (That one that required the fire helper to go underwater and light the canon was the bane of my existence as a child) but in the DS version they do. It's kinda sad, unless you have two carts you can only play spring breeze in co-op on the DS game.
Aw that's super lame. I've heard DS ports are generally good (Chrono trigger for example) but that's just not the same. That game was as co-op as they came back then.

I can't decide what pokemon are the best, but game wise Platinum was my favorite because it had all of the other pokemon in it plus all the gameplay mechanics.

Everyone will vote where they came into the series. I personally loved red/blue because it was just we such a simple game to play no fluff, G/S comes in at #2 because it was still awesome and it was a brilliant sequel but r/b just hooked me in the series.

The new pokemon themselves suck.

But the battles get deeper and the meta-game better.

So, D/P/P

The originals SUCK at this point, imo. I just can't go back to no meta-game. All you could do is catch Mewtwo and killed Elite Four over and over.

One you were able to run, it was ruined for me. Once things stopped being a pixelated mess, I stopped liking it. Some of my best childhood memories are in RBY, and that's where all the best pokemon are.

The best pokemon generation? The originals by far... just like most other series that get dragged out for too long.

Is this in terms of the Pokemon themselves or the Pokemon games?
'Cos Gold, Silver and Crystal were OBVIOUSLY the best...lol.
Actually, Crystal was great because you could travel to both islands at the time.
That's kinda why I'm looking forward to the new ones, HeartGold and SoulSilver...not for the new Pokemon or anything, but the travelling options. It just extended the gameplay a lot further than what you got in Diamond, Pearl, or even Platinum.

Is anyone gonna buy the new games? If so, which one? Or both? I reckon I'm gonna get HeartGold...purely because I prefer the Kyroge to Groudon :D

Gold and Silver did have the biggest world to explore, which is why they are the best ones.

I'm gonna get HG, because some friends of mine are getting Soul Silver and because i played the original Gold as a kid

I liked the original 151, but the Gold Silver Crystal set takes my pick because of Totodile. After that it just gets...boring.
